We know how important free tax clinics are to our neighbours who need to complete their annual tax returns to ensure that they receive all of the tax credits and other benefits to which they may be entitled. This is why we have moved our free tax clinic online. Volunteers may be able to do taxes for free, by videoconference or phone, through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).
These virtual clinics will be held on an interim basis to help complete tax returns while still following physical distancing guidelines. Due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, many community organizations, such as ourselves, had to close their in-person free tax clinics. We’re working the Canada Revenu Agency to make sure that our virtual clinic is safe and secure and that your private information is protected.
