Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is a holy day of fasting and prayer which marks the beginning of Lent. We gather on this day each year to remember our frailty, recall our reliance on God, confess our sins, and be reconciled to God, the Church, and each other. In this way, we begin the discipline of the great season of Lent with hearts and minds fixed on Jesus Christ who will be our companion through it all.

There are two opportunities to participate in the liturgy of Ash Wednesday at St John's:

• 10:00 am in the church, in a said service with 17th century language (Book of Common Prayer)
• 7:30 pm in the church, in a sung service with the parish choir, in 20th century language (Book of Alternative Services)
