TO THE PEOPLE OF ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST, HAMILTON

Dear friends,

Greetings to you on behalf of our bishop and your siblings in Christ from across our beloved diocese. I write to share with you the news that The Venerable Dr. David Anderson has submitted his resignation as your rector, effective September 30, 2022, and has accepted Bishop Susan's offer to serve at St. Jude's, Oakville.

I know that this news will bring a mix of emotions; David's faithful witness to the gospel through his ministry in your midsts and within the neighbourhood surrounding the parish has been an inspiration to many. As a parish family, you have seen his gifts up close; sharing in the joys and sorrows of life together as you received his care and spiritual guidance. David's missional focus, curiosity for learning, and neighbourly orientation have served your parish, as well as our whole diocese through his ministry as Archdeacon of Hamilton-Haldimand, so very well over the years.

I trust you will find an opportunity to wish him well and express your thanks for his leadership and guiding ministry at St. John's. I expect that David's last Sunday in the parish will be September 25, 2022. Please aslso keep David and Kathryn and their family in your prayers during this time.

In the coming weeks, we will be in touch with your wardens to begin discernment about the diocesan process for your parish's future ordained leadership. For now, please know that the Bishop and I are holding you in prayer during this time of leave-taking, and as you begin to actively discerne the Spirit's leading for the next chapter of your ministry as a parish.

Sincerely,

The Venerable William Mous, Bishop's Commissary
