Bishop Susan Bell has licensed the Revd Jeff Potter as an Honorary Assistant Priest at the Church of St John the Evangelist. You may recognize Jeff; he and his family have been attending at St John's for some time, sharing their gifts and presence in our parish life. It's a blessing to now have him licensed to exercise ordained ministry in our community as well.

Jeff is passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and has a deep love of preaching and teaching to build up well-equipped disciples. Jeff has served at Christ’s Church Cathedral, Incarnation Oakville, and as Niagara’s Diocesan Missioner. Before moving to the Diocese of Niagara, Jeff was Lead Pastor and Church Planter at St. Stephen’s, Maple, successfully planting a new worshipping community in the midst of a previously closed parish church. Jeff has also helped foster the renewal of Christian community in several other urban and suburban churches in the Toronto area, and has served as Fresh Expressions Canada’s national team lead.

Jeff holds an Honours Master of Divinity from Wycliffe College, and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. Jeff practiced law on Bay Street before responding to God’s call to ordained ministry in the Anglican Church.

Jeff’s wife, Becky, works as a tax lawyer, and has a passion for children’s and family ministry. Together, they have an eight-year-old daughter, Josie, a six-year-old son, Jamie, and a hyper-active dog named Harriet.
