Hearts and Minds meets next on Friday, May 10th at St. John's (crypt or gym TBA), starting at 6:00 PM with a potluck supper.
At 7:00 PM, we'll welcome Sabira and Jawad Akbari, the Afghan newcomers St. John's has been sponsoring. They arrived in Hamilton along with their young son at the end of February. They will be joined on the 10th by their friend Marzia Mohammadi, who arrived in Canada a few months before they did. Sabira, Jawad, and Marzia will share a little about their life in Afghanistan and the work they did there. They will also share their hopes and concerns for Afghanistan as they continue to advocate for women's and human rights, raise awareness about Hazara genocide, and create a new life (and learn a new language!) here in Canada.
Bring a potluck dish, if you can, or just yourself and a friend or a question!
