Parish Youth Mission to Charleston, West Virginia Returns
Our youth mission to Charleston, WV has returned and has been a great sucess.
On Friday, June 3, before our group left for Charleston, a large tropical storm moved through West Virginia creating great havoc in its wake. Millions of people were left without power in West Virginia and neighbouring states. President Barak Obama declared an emergency in West Virginia as the state governor also declared a state-wide emergeny that remained in effect all week.
Fortuneately, the site where our youth were housed in Charleston was with power and the St John's youth were able to assist in this time of emergency.
- helping to clear away debris;
- assisting in emgency shelters;
- caring for the elderly and infirm in nursing homes at a time when families were most unlikely to visit;
- caring for at-risk youth.
We wish to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this time of service.
