Summer Worship Times

July and August

    8:15 a.m.  

A traditional service of Holy Communion using the rite from the Book of Common Prayer.

10 a.m.   The main service fo the day, alternating in style. Holy Eucharist with organ and hymns or Holy Eucharist with worship band.

Worship

Worship is at the centre of the Christian life. At the Church of St John the Evangelist we offer people the opportunity to worship in a number of different ways.

Choral Service

Sunday mornings, 11 a.m.

We experience the best of the classic Anglican choral and liturgical traditions. The choral service is held on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. Adult, youth and children's choirs enhance this worship service. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated most Sundays, with Choral Matins approximately twice each year.

Discovery Service

Sunday mornings, 9:30 a.m.

With a more contemporary feel, our Discovery Service is also a Eucharistic celebration. Our house worship band is known as "The Spirit of Rock".

Early Service

Sunday mornings, 8:15 a.m.

A quiet said service using the Holy Communion rite of the Book of Common Prayer.

Wednesday Service

Wednesday mornings, 10 a.m. in the Chapel of St Michael and St George

A service with hymns and using the Holy Communion rite of the Book of Common Prayer. There is fellowship in the crypt over coffee, tea and cookies following the service.

Faith Formation Framework

When people come to the Rock on Locke we invite them to get to know us by following a path we call our "Faith Formation Framework".

The framework involves four steps.

  • Step One -- Getting to Know Us: Basic Orientation to St John's and the "Anglican Way".
  • Step Two -- Learning the Faith: Exploring the Basics of the Christian Faith
  • Step Three -- Discovering Ministry: Exploring and Discerning Your Own Unique Shape for Ministry
  • Step Four -- Growing in Faith and Mission
