Confirmation, Reception and the Re-affirmation of Faith: Pentecost Sunday, May 5, 2015

Pentecost is one of the great days of celebration in Christ’s Church. This year we will be celebrating Pentecost at our cathedral with confirmations, receptions and the re-affirmation of Faith.

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus. If you have never received episcopal confirmation we invite you to consider taking this step.

Reception into the communion of the Anglican Church of Canada is offered for those who were previously confirmed in another communion of Christ’s Church and welcomes you into our Anglican family. One is received by the bishop through the right hand of fellowship.

Reaffirmation of faith is for any who have been previously baptized and confirmed an opportunity to recommit their lives in a deeper way to their life in Christ.  Any choosing to reaffirm their faith are given the opportunity to reclaim their baptismal vows and receive the prayers and blessing of the Bishop.

A service of Confirmation, Reception and Re-affirmation will take place at 4 p.m. at Christ’s Church Cathedral here in Hamilton. Any who are interested in participating in any of these rites are asked to speak with the Rector, David Anderson.

We are all asked to pray for those who will be using the Lenten and Easter seasons as to prepare for these important moments in their journey.
