Appointment Dr. Leonel Aboroa-Bolona

The Right Reverend Michael A. Bird, Bishop of Niagara, has appointed Dr. Leonel Abaroa-Bolona as Ministry Associate at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, for a six-month period effective September 1, 2017. Leonel's appointment is to be shared with the Church of the Ascension, with 75% of his time at SJE and Archdeacon Anderson as his primary supervisor. The employment costs associated with this appointment are to be borne by the diocese.

Dr. Aboroa-Bolona holds a Master of Theology degree from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Matanzas, Cuba, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theology from the University of Toronto. Leonel has most recently served as a lay pastor with the San Gabriel congregation at St. Michael’s, Hamilton.

Leonel is a postulant for ordination in our diocese; God-willing he will be ordained on September 21 at 7 PM at Christ’s Church Cathedral in Hamilton.

We look forward to welcoming Leonel in our midst. His first Sunday at SJE will be on September 10.
